When political leaders set a negative example professional commitment to just practice becomes more important. Authoritarians need obedient civil servants. Concentration camp directors need business leaders who want cheap labor. We’re in disarray for lots of different reasons. Something is happening to the U.S. We are on the precipice. All elections are important. This one is momentous. We have to ask who are we and who do we want to be? Will we recognize ourselves in January 2021 or will we be facing an uncertain new world? Either way, it’s up to us and to those dedicated professional staffing government agencies. Professional ethics matter, professionals are essential.
