I donated my boobs to breast cancer research. Last week I had my annual breast exam. For the men following, if the woman in your life has not shared the joys of this, please know that our breasts are mounted onto a machine, twisted and squeezed in plexiglass to look for breast cancer. I did that last week. HOWEVER. This time, I was approached by a technician that asked me to participate in a study of breast health. I agreed. Moffitt Cancer Center treats my 80-year old husband for blood cancer and has for more than a decade. So, sure, I’m on board. I answered a bunch of questions very much like the Apple Women’s Health Study. Weirdly similar. And long. I had to spit into a vial. A lot. Damn, that was the worst. Pee sample. Don’t ask about the poo sample. Loooooooonnnnggg questionnaires about where I have ever lived and what I eat weekly. I have a friend who is a breast cancer survivor. So, yeah. Worth it. My husband had 9 clinical trials for his cancer and my friend had threatened boobs. I donated my boobs to cancer research. At least someone is getting some use of them.
