Endlings: the last of their species

#Endlings are the last of their kind. We hear about their sad stories but National Geographic wonders whether our fascination with them can be enough to nudge us toward better #conservation. Think the last passenger pigeon, Martha, who died in 1914 or Sudan, the last male northern white #rhinoceros who died in 2018. How about Lonesome George, the last known Pinata #tortoise who died in 2012. Some scientists are even relocating diminishing populations in a desperate effort to save them. Books, TV shows, games, movies and more have covered this tragedy but still, it’s important to present material, especially for kids, in realistic, but hopeful terms. If anything is to be done, to slow extinctions, it will be theirs to do.
