About five years ago I started a journey to develop my craft as a writer. The writing I wanted to do wasn’t the kind that I’d been paid to produce my entire professional career. I was taking an online class about braided essays, where you take two (or more) seemingly disparate subjects and weave them together to show how they are the same. This was supposed to be a braided essay but instead came out a narrative poem. It’s my first literary publication.
