Covid produced some interesting stuff. One German scientist, while on lockdown, noticed that spiders would twitch and move as they slept. This occurred in a regular pattern. She thought they looked like the jerky movements of dogs and cats as they sleep (and frankly, people, too.) Occasionally, the spiders would extend all their legs at once. She guess the spider was having a nightmare as in AGGGGHHH. Spiders have cognitive abilities and memories, according to another scientist, so, why not dreams?
This is bad news for my husband Jim who prefers spiders squished. Our 35-year compromise for his dislike of spiders is for me to collect them and set them free outside. I am the spider wrangler at my house. Lucky for the spiders. Jim is the stuff of their nightmares.
