A few more years passed, I got my work life in order. Maintaining the front planting area became my job. I started with the basics: pulling weeds. Neighbors sometimes made fun occasionally pointing out that if I had a yard like theirs, I wouldn\u2019t have to work so hard at the weed pulling. Then again, the UPS guy stopped to tell me I had the best yard in the neighborhood. But, once the weeds are pulled, then what? Since the Confederate Jasmine spread sporadically, like a bad combover that couldn\u2019t cover the bald spots so I decided to fill in the spots with Blue My Mind. It\u2019s a hearty groundcover that spreads readily. As I carried 50 out of the nursery a woman stopped to tell me that she loves them, hard to kill and stay blue all year. \u201cI even have some in a hanging basket,\u201d she said with a big smile.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I returned to front planting area and dug in. The results are still a work in progress. For a time I tried splashed of other color but in the end, they blue my mind. Here\u2019s what they look like today. The bees and butterflies like them.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
