(I argue it\u2019s well beyond \u201cgardening\u201d.) The answer is easy: back yard wildlife. We have three criteria for plants in the yard: Does it support native birds, bees and wildlife; Is it drought-tolerant; Is it native because that reduces the need for fertilizers and pesticides. We have some non-natives in the yard and we have some plants that might be considered \u201cinvasive\u201d but these are in \u201ccontained\u201d areas to make aggressive expansion difficult or impossible.
